The Story of Samuel

Samuel was dedicated, set apart, or consecrated to God. There are two stories. One is long and the other is short.

Answer the questions by unscrambling the words.

7.What did Eli tell Samuel to say the next time her heard the voice? “Speak __________. (DORL) Your __________________ (RESVATN) hears You.”

SO, what do these stories about Aaron and his sons, and Samuel, Eli, and his sons have to do with you and me today?
Even though we may NOT be called to live and work in the tabernacle, we HAVE been “consecrated” or “set apart” for God’s purpose. We are different. While many people in our world do their own thing, you and I are set apart to follow God. He is our KING, and we are set apart to do what He has created us to do. We don’t live for ourselves and our own desires. We live for HIM, and when we do, we are blessed and we bless God.

Here are some verses for you to read before we pray together.
1. Deuteronomy 14:2: for you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession.
2. 1 Peter 1:16: for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
3. 1 Peter 2:9: But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
4. Psalm 4:3: Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him.

Let's Pray

Father God, You are a good, good God. You want to bless us because we are your people and You love us. You are The One that made us and You have special things for us to do. We have been SET APART or consecrated to You, GOD. You are our King and we want to listen and obey You. We want to do the very thing you have SET US APART to do. So today, we give you our lives and we trust that you will show us what to do.  We love you God. Amen.
