Sunday, June 13, 2021 - From Pastor Doug
Good Sunday morning everyone!!!

I’m happy to share more detailed and positive news with you about my personal health journey. So far I’ve completed 6wks of chemo/radiation in combating diagnosed brain cancer. Then, after 4wks of rest and letting brain swelling subside, I have this latest medical report  from just a few days ago:

A “baseline” of my status has now been established, and a treatment plan laid out for the next year. Five days a month I will take “chemo pills” in the evening before sleeping. The rest of the month will be without any treatment. And, each month I will take a visit to the Hospital for a “checkup”. Every 3 months I will go to Hospital in Toronto for MRI testing for ongoing monitoring. I still need a healing miracle from the Lord for a longer, life term answer. So please keep praying for me. For now my doctor has said, “Get on with your life”!!

I plan on slowly entering office and work life at church over the next few weeks. Expect my jokes to be much funnier and I do have even stronger punch lines. Don’t be fooled, my mind is very sharp. Hahaha My desire is to tell you “my story” in person, next Sunday, June 27th, and express my family’s gratitude to you our wider family.

If you’re going through a difficult time yourself right now, be strengthened and encouraged. We serve a wonderful and good God who has our very best at heart … expect good to come of your situation and let Him work it out in His time, with His love and power. I love you so very much … see you soon, minus some hair but still a good looking guy.

Pastor Doug completed his 6-week treatment cycle on May 16. After a pause of 4 weeks, he will return to the Doctor for new tests and clarity on the journey ahead. His spirits remain high and he is resting at home, regaining his strength. Once again, thanks so much for your continued prayer support! They are working!

Sunday, April 11, 2021 - From Pastor Doug
My Dear Embassy Family:
YOU, my church family, and “heart-friends”, have definitely totally rocked my world. My recent cancer diagnosis was a shock, but GREATER, and WAY MORE impacting in such an extraordinary way, has been your expression of love, kindness, caring, prayer, faith, hope and encouragement to us.

Briefly, I wanted to give you an update on my health status:

I just completed my first week of chemo/radiation at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. The schedule calls for 5 successive following weeks.

Two, my body needs a miracle from the Lord. Please continue with me in this posture.

Three, the Lord has spoken to me clearly and continues to assure me, that somehow He is going to “make a way where there is no way”. Our God is ALWAYS bigger than US, and OUR NEEDS ... ALWAYS!!!!

And finally, while we as a SCHNEIDER  family are so keenly aware of the off-the-charts “care” we’re receiving from you ... our hearts pray daily for you too, as YOU too navigate the challenges and hurdles that this demanding season has brought to ALL OF US.

We love God, and we love all people. And I cry this out as my closing to you ...

“AS ONE”!!!!!!!!!!!!  (2Xs)

My Dear Embassy Family:
I'm talking to you today from a heart that is overwhelmingly filled with gratitude for your great love toward me, Judy and our family. Your expressions of kindness and unusual generosity have caused me to cry many wonderful tears. Words cannot describe how loved and cared for we are by you. I'm telling you, this experience is off the charts for us. In our greatest weakness, right now, we feel extraordinarily strong!!! We love our Embassy family.

Embassy is such a healthy church and so are the many who stand with us from around the world. Our pastors, administration team, executive team - ALL OF US HERE are a family walking in this. Whatever YOU are going through in this season, know that we are all in this together. I believe we will see in the days ahead, the miraculous power of God revealed for us all and He will get all the glory for it.

I love my city of Oshawa and Region of Durham. The blessing of God is upon us.

Judy is my rock. My family is one. Pastor Leon gives remarkable leadership day by day.

The plan for the next 6 weeks is to have daily chemotherapy and radiation to combat the cancer. Let's stand strong together. The purposes of God will be fulfilled. I love God and I love people, and so does my family.

Friday, March 26, 2021 - Peace & The Presence of the Lord
Pastor Doug is continuously experiencing the peace and presence of the Lord. His spirit and soul is strong.

The doctors have set up a treatment plan which will start Monday, March 29th. Pray for physical strength, healing, and a miracle from God. Pray for the family as they carry this journey together.

Sunday, March 21, 2021 - From Pastor Doug
“Our dear and beautiful Embassy family,

Our past week has been filled with many unexpected events. The Lord has been with us in it all.

Our heart is to share openly and truthfully with you so that we walk in this valley of the shadow together. We now know these facts:

Pastor Doug has been diagnosed with a malignant tumor that needs a miracle from God to spare his life. He does believe that God has spoken to him and is expecting a good outcome. Our family stands together as one, looking for the Lord to do for us, what we could never do for ourselves.

We are asking you to stand with us in prayer for total healing. Please join us in this simple mandate. It’s important for you all to know that this is our posture and we will not be having added discussions on medical details. Daily your prayers are making a difference. We are the Lords and He is helping us through it all.

With all of my love and a heart filled with expectation,
Pastor Doug and family”

Friday, March 19, 2021 - Resting Well!
Pastor Doug is resting well at home. Your continued prayer support is appreciated and needed. Please sign up for a time of Focused Prayer below as part of Pastor Doug's continuous Prayer Wall.

Tuesday, March 16, 2021 - Home!
Pastor Doug is home!!! He came home last night, had a good sleep and is enjoying a good cup of coffee in the comfort of his home, the nearness of his wife and family, and of course, his beloved dog Peanut. Surely, another big step ahead. As explained in the previous update below, continued prayer is crucial as the journey isn't over and the outcome isn't fixed.

Monday, March 15, 2021 - Monday Update
Pastor Doug is in good spirits, yet physically he has a journey of recovery ahead of him. Medical staff is still deciding on when/if he can go home and are now setting the course for the journey ahead. The tumor was superficial (on the surface) and they were able to remove everything visible. Since it was most likely malignant, future treatment is probably necessary.

Even though we’ve jumped some major hurdles, the journey isn’t over and the outcome isn’t fixed.

Continued prayer is crucial.

Pray for recovery of the physical effects of the surgery, for healing of any residual cancer and for the doctors to make the best decisions in moving forward.

Sunday, March 14, 2021 - Post Surgery Update
Pastor Doug is recovering from his surgery and will most likely be able to return home soon. There is strong probability they got it all, but they will not know for sure until reports come back within seven days.

Pray for recovery from the surgery, the miracle of full removal and clarity in the days ahead on next steps.

Your Prayers are Working!
